Dabau Singh-Heer

Where things merge, cross over, intersect or clash is Dabau's reflection of life. Being spontaneous and non spontaneous/ controlled and/or not controlled are themes she explores within the different mediums she works with.

As in life, Dabau uses the mixture of control and abandon in her art work, trying to keep the balance between both, whilst mastering and extending techniques and maintaining the creative flow in painting, drawing, ceramics, and textiles.

Influenced early on by NZ artists Goldie and Don Binney, Dabau later became inspired by seeing the actual works of the European Impressionists.  Exploring their courage of doing something new and spontaneous, Dabau's work continues to evolve.
